Encounter Breaks Out in Khaniyar, Srinagar

Srinagar: An encounter erupted on Saturday morning between security forces and suspected terrorists in the Khaniyar area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

A senior police official reported that a joint team of security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation following specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area. As the security personnel approached the suspected location, the hiding militants opened fire, prompting a swift retaliation from the forces and leading to an active gunfight.

According to officials, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped within the cordoned area. The operation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
