DC Ganderbal Reviews Progress Under JJM, SBM(G); Stresses Timely Completion of Water Supply Schemes
Seeks Weekly Reports on ‘Catch the Rain’ Campaign, Reviews Rural Water Infrastructure
Ganderbal, June 11 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, on Thursday chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Comprehensive Implementation and Reforms Plan (CIRP) and progress achieved under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) in the district.
During the meeting, the Executive Engineer PHE informed that the district has successfully completed JJM 1.0, under which Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) were provided to rural households across Ganderbal.
The meeting was further informed that JJM 2.0 is presently focused on the completion of ongoing and approved water supply schemes aimed at further strengthening rural drinking water infrastructure and ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water.
Reviewing the status of water supply projects, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that out of 10 identified schemes, five have been completed, while work on the remaining schemes is progressing at an advanced stage.
The meeting was also apprised that under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative, 118 out of 129 selected villages in the district have achieved certification. Additionally, all 120 eligible Gram Panchayats in Ganderbal have successfully secured certification under the Jal Seva Aankalan assessment framework.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed habitation-wise progress regarding the creation of Rural Piped Water Supply System (RPWSS) IDs and directed the concerned engineers to expedite the disposal of pending cases.
He instructed officials to submit weekly progress reports to facilitate close monitoring and ensure timely completion of all pending tasks.
The meeting further reviewed water quality monitoring and surveillance activities, progress under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) and the implementation status of the ongoing ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign.
Emphasizing the importance of water conservation and sustainable resource management, the DC sought regular weekly updates on the campaign and directed concerned departments to intensify efforts aimed at rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge.
Jatin Kishore stressed the need for coordinated action, strict adherence to timelines and effective execution of all schemes to ensure the availability of safe and reliable drinking water facilities for rural households across the district.
The meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer Hydraulics PHE, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineers of PHE Divisions Ganderbal and Sumbal, Chief Agriculture Officer and other concerned officers.(PTK)
