ADC Budgam Reviews Muharram-ul-Haram Arrangements, Directs Departments to Ensure Seamless Public Services
Emphasizes Advance Preparations, Inter-Departmental Coordination for Smooth Observance
Budgam, June 11 (PTK): Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah, on Wednesday chaired a meeting of officers from various departments to review the arrangements being put in place for the forthcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram across the district.
The meeting held a comprehensive review of the preparations required to ensure the smooth, peaceful and hassle-free conduct of Muharram processions and religious gatherings (majalis) throughout the district.
Discussions focused on the availability of essential services, public convenience measures and strengthening inter-departmental coordination to facilitate devotees during the holy month.
The ADC reviewed arrangements related to electricity and drinking water supply, road repairs and maintenance, sanitation, ration and firewood availability, street lighting, healthcare facilities, transport management and other essential civic services.
At the outset, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah directed all concerned departments to complete the required arrangements well in advance and ensure uninterrupted public services during Muharram.
The Power Development Department (PDD) was instructed to ensure scheduled and hassle-free power supply, while the Jal Shakti Department was directed to maintain adequate drinking water supply and make water tankers available wherever necessary.
The Forest Department was asked to ensure sufficient availability of firewood, while the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department was directed to facilitate the timely distribution of ration and other essential commodities. The Cooperatives Department was instructed to ensure adequate availability of essential items through designated outlets.
The ADC further directed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to undertake necessary road repairs, drainage clearance and sanitation works on priority to ensure convenience for mourners and the general public.
Healthcare authorities were instructed to keep medical facilities fully prepared and ensure deployment of medical teams at important congregation and procession points during Muharram.
The Executive Officers of Municipal Committees were directed to ensure proper installation, functioning and maintenance of street lights, besides strengthening sanitation arrangements in areas expected to witness large gatherings.
Emphasizing the importance of coordination and responsiveness, the ADC urged all departments to work in close collaboration, remain available in the field and promptly address public grievances and concerns during the holy month.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Budgam, Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Budgam, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Budgam, Assistant Director FCS&CA, District Information Officer, Executive Engineers of various departments, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees and representatives of concerned departments.(PTK)
