17 Additional M-PACS Recommended for Computerisation in Anantnag
Anantnag, May 16 (PTK): The third meeting of the District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (DLIMC) for the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) Computerisation Project was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat at the DC Office Anantnag to review implementation of the centrally sponsored scheme in the district.
At the outset, the committee confirmed the minutes of the previous DLIMC meeting as no objections or observations had been received.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC stressed the need for swift and time-bound implementation of the computerisation and digital transformation project for cooperative societies. He said digital transformation would help PACSs realise their full potential and become profitable and sustainable institutions in the long run.
During the meeting, the committee deliberated on inclusion of additional Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (M-PACSs) under Phase-II of the PACS Computerisation Project launched by the Government of India.
Officials informed the meeting that the concerned Ministry has approved inclusion of additional PACSs under the second phase and that the Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K, had identified eligible societies for consideration.
The committee was informed that 22 PACSs across seven blocks of the district, affiliated with eight branches of the Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank, have already been computerised and made operational.
Further, 17 additional audited and non-computerised M-PACSs were placed before the committee for inclusion under the scheme. After detailed deliberations, the committee recommended all 17 eligible PACSs for computerisation and authorised the Member Secretary and Managing Director of ACCB to forward the recommendations to the UT Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee for approval.
The committee also reviewed proposals regarding procurement of essential hardware items required for the newly identified PACSs and recommended their submission to the UTLIMC to expedite digital transformation and strengthening of cooperative institutions in the district.(PTK)
