Anti-Drug Awareness Programmes Intensified Across Shopian Under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan
Shopian, May 16 (PTK): A series of awareness and outreach programmes were organised across Shopian district on Friday under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to educate people about the 100-day anti-drug campaign and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
Yoga sessions, awareness lectures and interactive programmes were conducted in various educational institutions where students and staff actively participated and pledged to adopt and promote a healthy lifestyle free from substance abuse.
An inter-school debate competition was also organised at Higher Secondary School Vehil under the banner of NMJKA, where students highlighted the growing menace of drug addiction and stressed the collective responsibility of society in eradicating it.
Similar awareness activities were held at High School Pinjoora and High School Mantribugh, where participants were sensitised about the social, psychological and health-related consequences of drug abuse.
Various government departments including Government Degree College Shopian, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited, ICDS, Ayush and the Revenue Department also organised awareness programmes with enthusiastic participation from officials, students, youth and local residents.
Speakers during the events highlighted the harmful effects of narcotics and urged youth to stay away from drugs while calling for coordinated and sustained efforts to achieve the goal of a drug-free society.
Participants were encouraged to spread awareness at the grassroots level and actively contribute towards building a healthier, safer and drug-free Shopian.(PTK)
