Zubair visits Fair Price Shop at Panchayat Pargalta as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR JAMMU, DECEMBER 26: As a part of celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Zubair Ahmed, today visited Fair Price Shop at Panchayat Pargalta, Tehsil Jammu.
He was accompanied by Dr Naseem Javaid Chaudhary, Director, FCS&CA, Jammu and Sonam Verma, Assistant Director, FCS&CA Jammu Rural-I.
During the visit, Commissioner Secretary assessed the functioning of the Fair Price Shop especially focusing on usage of Aadhar based PoS machines for distribution of ration.
Zubair thoroughly checked the existing infrastructure at the shop, quality of foodgrains, rate and scale of foodgrains, grievance redressal mechanism and availability of basic facilities for beneficiaries.

He interacted with the beneficiaries on the spot and apprised them of various technological interventions being introduced by the department to bring transparency in PDS operations.
Rehmat Ali BDC Chairperson and PRI members were also present.
The visit was a part of initiative taken up by the department to visit Fair Price Shops by senior officers to significantly enhance the visibility of FPS, sensitization of beneficiaries and to gain a holistic understanding of PDS operations, ONORC, PM-GKAY scheme among others.
The beneficiaries present including Sarpanch and Panch of the Panchayat expressed satisfaction on working of the department.
