Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Youths on Jammu-Pathankote Highway

Samba, Apr 20 (PTK):

In a tragic road accident that has sent shockwaves through two states, two young men lost their lives late last night when the car they were travelling in collided with an oil tanker on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway near Samba.

The deceased have been identified as Bantu Dogra, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, and Shubam Shrivastav, hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Both were reportedly returning from a marriage function when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to eyewitness accounts and initial reports from the police, the collision took place near the Ghagwal area of Samba district. The car, travelling at high speed, is believed to have rammed into a stationary oil tanker parked by the roadside. The impact was so severe that both occupants died on the spot.

Local authorities, along with teams from the police and emergency services, rushed to the scene to retrieve the bodies and clear the highway. The bodies were later shifted to the district hospital for postmortem examination.

Speaking to PTK, a senior police official said, “We have registered a case and initiated further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The possibility of over-speeding and poor visibility at the time is being looked into.”

Families of the deceased have been informed, and efforts are underway to transport the bodies to their native places for last rites.

This tragic incident once again raises concerns about road safety on highways, especially during late-night travel. With increasing traffic and frequent reports of accidents, citizens and authorities alike are calling for stricter regulations and better roadside infrastructure.
