Sopore Police Attaches Property Worth ₹45 Lakh Belonging to Notorious Drug Peddler

Sopore, April 10 (PTK): In a decisive action against organized narco-trafficking, Sopore Police on Thursday attached properties valued at over ₹45 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler, marking a significant step in the fight against the drug menace in the region.

The attached assets include a two-storied commercial building, a single-storied bakery workshop, and the second floor of a residential house located in Mazbugh, Sopore. The cumulative market value of the attached properties stands at approximately ₹45,19,816/-.

The action was taken under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, following a thorough investigation which revealed that the said properties were acquired using proceeds generated through illegal narcotics trafficking.

The accused has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Bhat, a resident of Mazbugh Sopore. Authorities confirmed that these immovable assets were raised through illicit means linked directly to the narcotics trade.

By targeting the financial backbone of drug traffickers, the police aim to dismantle the infrastructure that supports the drug trade. “Seizing and freezing the assets of those involved in organized narco-smuggling is a key strategy in breaking their networks and curbing their influence in society,” a senior police official stated.

Police reiterated their firm resolve to continue such actions against all individuals and networks involved in drug trafficking and urged the public to support law enforcement by reporting drug-related activities to nearby police stations.

This action reinforces the administration’s commitment to creating a drug-free society and sends a strong message that those profiting from illegal drug trade will face severe legal and financial consequences. (PTK)
