Senior Accountant at SIDCO, Khunmoh Arrested for Accepting Bribe

 

Srinagar, July 24 – The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Mohammad Yaseen Sheikh, Senior Accountant at SIDCO, Khunmoh, Srinagar, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.

According to officials from the Press Trust of Kashmir, a written complaint was lodged against Sheikh, alleging that he demanded ₹20,000 as a bribe for processing a supplementary partnership deed for the complainant. After negotiations, the amount was settled at ₹15,000.

Refusing to succumb to the demand, the complainant approached the ACB, seeking legal action against the accused. Following the receipt of the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification, which confirmed the demand made by Sheikh. Consequently, a case was registered under FIR No. 18/2024 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Police Station ACB Srinagar, and an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, a trap team was constituted. This team successfully caught Sheikh red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of ₹15,000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot, and the bribe money was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
