LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates Emergency Operations Centre, Amarnath Yatra Control Room in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, June 5 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday inaugurated the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) and Shri Amarnathji Yatra Control Room at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Ganderbal, aimed at strengthening monitoring, emergency response and pilgrim management for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said the newly established facilities would play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth, safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees undertaking the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the key features and operational capabilities of the integrated control and monitoring facility.
According to officials, the centre has been designed as a centralized monitoring hub that consolidates CCTV feeds from across Ganderbal district, including surveillance systems installed by the District Administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies.
The integrated platform will enable real-time monitoring and coordination from a single location, significantly enhancing situational awareness and emergency response capabilities.
Officials informed that the facility is supported by a 24×7 emergency citizen helpline, enabling authorities to provide immediate assistance, respond to emergencies and ensure effective crisis management across the district.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, the Emergency Operations Centre has also been integrated with CCTV feeds from key pilgrimage locations, including Baltal Base Camp, approach roads leading to Baltal, parking areas at Baltal Base Camp, Sonamarg, and the Manigam Transit Camp.
The centralized monitoring system is expected to assist authorities in crowd management, traffic regulation, security surveillance and rapid response during the annual pilgrimage.
Officials stated that the facility will serve as an important tool for planning, coordination and decision-making during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, ensuring enhanced safety and convenience for pilgrims visiting the holy cave shrine.
The inauguration forms part of broader efforts by the administration to strengthen infrastructure and preparedness ahead of the annual pilgrimage, which attracts thousands of devotees from across the country.(PTK)
