JKPCC holds meeting in Kupwara
Ghulam Nabi Azad best suited candidate as CM in prevailing situation in J&K
Srinagar July 04 (PTK) A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) led by senior leaders G N Monga and Mohammad Anwar Bhat was held in Kupwara where the participants declared that veteran party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was the best suited candidate as chief minister in the prevailing situation in J&K.
They said that Azad sahab’s contributions to strengthen Congress in J&K are immense. “During his less than three-year tenure as chief minister of J&K, Azad sahib took some revolutionary decisions to bring socio-economic transformation back on the rails in the state,” they said.
The leaders vowed that only Azad sahib can bring J&K out of the prevailing political uncertainty. “He is the only leader in J&K who has acceptance in all regions and sub-regions. Besides his political acumen and honesty is an asset,” they said.
The leaders also termed the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED’s) questioning of party leader Rahul Gandhi and notice to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi as political vendetta by BJP-led government at Centre.
This was the second big meeting of JKPCC in north Kashmir after meeting in Baramulla last month. The JKPCC leaders also urged the Center to restore statehood of J&K before holding Assembly polls.
While addressing the participants, Monga said that the Congress was the only party in the country which could counter communal forces. “Congress is the only party that could provide secular, democratic rule in J&K and rest of the country. The party fought for India’s independence and the Constitution was framed on the Preamble of a socialist secular democratic republic,” he pointed out. (PTK)
