J&K Police Launches Massive Plantation Drive Across UT on World Environment Day

Srinagar, June 5 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday organized a large-scale plantation drive across the Union Territory to mark World Environment Day, reaffirming its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The initiative was conducted as part of the nationwide plantation campaign launched under the leadership of the Union Home Minister, Government of India.

As part of the drive, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat inaugurated a plantation programme in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, encouraging greater participation in efforts aimed at protecting the environment and increasing green cover.

At the Police Headquarters in Srinagar, the plantation programme was led by Special Director General of Police S.J.M. Gillani in the presence of ADGP Headquarters M.K. Sinha, DIG Mubassir Latifi, DIG J.S. Johar, besides AIGs, officers and police personnel.

During the programme, nearly 100 saplings of different species were planted within the premises of the Police Headquarters as part of the environmental conservation initiative.

Similar plantation drives were simultaneously conducted at all Zonal, Range, District, Unit and Wing Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir Police across the Union Territory.

Senior police officers heading the respective formations personally led the drives and encouraged officers and personnel to actively participate in environmental protection and afforestation efforts.

Officials said the plantation campaign reflects the commitment of J&K Police towards promoting environmental sustainability and contributing to a greener, cleaner and healthier future.

The participants also highlighted the importance of increasing forest cover, preserving ecological balance and creating awareness about environmental protection among the public.

The World Environment Day observance witnessed enthusiastic participation from police personnel across Jammu and Kashmir, with hundreds of saplings planted at various locations as part of the collective effort to promote a sustainable environment.(PTK)
