Police arrests 08 persons and seizes 09 vehicles in Budgam

Press Trust Of kashmir Srinagar September 13: Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Budgam have arrested 08 persons and seized 09 vehicles involved in the commission of crime.

Police Station Beerwah received an information about illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Harda-Malpora Beerwah & Nalla Sukhnag. Accordingly, a police party from Police Station Beerwah conducted the raids on specific locations and seized 07 vehicles (03 tippers, 02 JCB & 02 tractors) loaded with illegally extracted Sand/Bajri & arrested 7 persons on the spot. Moreover, 02 Santro vehicles used to monitor police movement were also seized & a driver was arrested.

The arrested drivers have been identified as Zubair Ahmed Wani resident of Goripora, Shakir Ahmed War resident of Khanihama, Ghulam Hassan Ganie resident of Beerwah, Shafiqat Ali resident of Sehipora Magam, Muzzafar Ahmed Malik resident of Kahdi Banihal, Showkat Ahmed Manto resident of Sitharan, Imran Ahmed Tantray resident of Utligam & Danish Hussain Mir resident of Haygam. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, Case FIR No.s 126/2022 & 127/2022 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation set into motion.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
