Government Reverts to November Academic Session for Kashmir Schools

In a major change for the educational calendar in Kashmir, the Omar Abdullah-led administration has decided to restore the traditional November academic session for students in Classes 1 to 9, starting this year. This shift aligns with the longstanding practice in the region, providing a familiar rhythm for students, parents, and educators.

The transition for higher classes, from Grades 10 to 12, will take effect in the next academic year. Officials cited weather considerations and logistical ease as primary reasons for the move, with hopes that this adjustment will alleviate the impact of harsh winter conditions on students’ routines and performance.

This return to the November session is anticipated to offer students a smoother academic experience while reinforcing the local school culture and calendar.
