575 Lecturer Posts to be Filled

Srinagar, Oct 30 – Demonstrating its commitment to creating job opportunities for educated, unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir, the government, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, has taken a significant step toward addressing the demand for qualified educators. Sakeena Masood, the Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, has approved a proposal to advertise 575 vacant posts of 10+2 lecturers across 24 streams within the School Education Department.

These positions, left unfilled for several years, have been referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to be filled under a fast-track process, with the aim of quickly meeting the staffing needs of higher secondary institutions.

Minister Masood expressed her optimism about the development, reiterating the government’s dedication to its promises for the educated youth. “Within fifteen days of our government’s formation, we have taken concrete action to address the long-standing demands of the educated youth,” she said. The recruitment process is set to begin soon, and JKPSC has been directed to complete it in a timely and efficient manner.

In addition to the 10+2 lecturer posts, other departments have been instructed to consolidate both gazetted and non-gazetted vacancies, which will then be referred to recruitment agencies for expedited hiring. The Minister further highlighted that issues such as timely promotions for principals, in-charge lecturers, teachers, masters, and other educational staff are being prioritized. To ensure career progression, directives have been issued for the prompt conduct of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs).

This initiative signals the administration’s commitment to addressing unemployment and improving the quality of education across Jammu and Kashmir.
