G N Monga visits families of slain army porters in Uri
Demands compensation to victim families in accordance with army norms
Srinagar, October 27 (PTK) Senior Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress and former legislator G.N. Monga Sunday visited the grieving families of two army porters who lost their lives in a tragic militant attack in Botapathri Gulmarg on Thursday.
Monga who was accompanied by Congress District Baramulla President Irshad Budoo and other senior leaders and workers during the visit, expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary and Zahoor Ahmad Mir, acknowledging the immense sacrifice these individuals made while serving the nation.
While Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary belongs to Hundi-Nowshera in Uri, Zahoor Ahmad Mir hails from Barnate-Boniya in Uri. Monga visited the both families along with other leaders and workers to express sympathies with them.
He emphasized the critical role that army porters play in supporting military operations, often at great personal risk. The Congress Vice President called for the government to provide compensation to the families of the slain porters in accordance with army norms, underscoring that their work was essential to national security and should be recognized as such.
He highlighted that these brave individuals were not just porters, but vital contributors to the efforts of the armed forces, and their sacrifice deserves proper acknowledgment and support from the authorities:-(PTK)
