Body of Youth Recovered from Dal Lake After Boat Mishap

Srinagar, May 3 (PTK): – The body of a 24-year-old youth, who went missing following a boat accident in Dal Lake near Duck Park on Friday, was recovered by rescue teams on Saturday morning.

According to reports received by PTK News, the deceased has been identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Chopan Mohalla, Rainawari. His body was located after search operations resumed at dawn, having been paused overnight due to poor visibility and unfavorable conditions.

The tragic incident took place on Friday afternoon when a fishing boat carrying two individuals capsized amid strong gusts of wind. While one of the fishermen, Abdul Majeed Khosa, was rescued shortly after the accident, efforts to locate Chopan proved unsuccessful until the following day.

Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with support from other local rescue units, carried out a joint operation early this morning, ultimately recovering the body from the lake’s waters.

The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the Rainawari area, where both men resided. The local community is mourning the untimely loss of a young life due to the sudden mishap. (PTK)
