DC Srinagar Reviews Progress of Playfield Development in Every Panchayat

Directs Expedited Land Identification and Approvals for Completion of Remaining Projects

Srinagar, June 11 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at the DC Office to assess the block-wise progress of the initiative aimed at developing at least one playfield in every Panchayat of the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Commissioner Development Tariq Ahmad, Executive Engineer REW, SDM East Zuber Ahmad, Tehsildars of Panthachowk, Central Shalteng, Chanapora and other senior officers of the Rural Development Department.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed in detail the status of land identification, feasibility assessments, administrative approvals and other preparatory works required for the development of playfields across all Panchayats of the district.

Officials presented block-wise updates regarding the identification of suitable land and the progress achieved under the initiative. The meeting was informed that out of 21 Panchayats spread across the four blocks of Harwan, Qamarwari, Srinagar and Khonmoh, playfields have already been developed in 10 Panchayats.

The remaining Panchayats, officials informed, are currently at different stages of land identification, feasibility studies, technical clearances and administrative approval processes.

Taking stock of the progress, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to expedite the identification of suitable land in the remaining Panchayats and ensure that all feasibility reports, technical clearances and administrative approvals are completed within the stipulated timelines.

He stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders and executing agencies to achieve the objective of providing at least one functional playfield in every Panchayat of the district.

Highlighting the importance of sports infrastructure at the grassroots level, Akshay Labroo said the initiative would provide recreational opportunities to youth, encourage sports participation and contribute towards the overall physical and social development of rural communities.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the need for regular monitoring of ongoing works and prompt resolution of any bottlenecks to ensure timely implementation of the project.

He reiterated the district administration’s commitment towards strengthening sports infrastructure and creating quality recreational facilities for youth across all Panchayats of Srinagar district.(PTK)
