Won’t allow conversion of Haider canal into road, says Cherwan residents

Demands intervention of LG administration

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar:- The residents of Cherwan area of Ganderbal district on Thursday said that they won’t allow the conversion of Haider canal into road.

The residents of the area told PTK that no households are residing where government wants to construct the road, however, once there will be rains, the whole water will go another nearby canal which may lead to floods and cause damage to the property.

Despite we haven’t received any compensation when we provided alternative land for this canal and we aren’t going to allow the construction of road now.

We are already brought this issue in notice of Tehsildar, SDM and other officials but nothing has been done as of now.

They requested LG administration especially DC Ganderbal to look into the matter at an earliest so that poor people won’t face any problem.
