Several PDP Workers Join National Conference in Kangan
Kangan, May 24 (PTK): A significant political development was reported from Kangan area of Ganderbal district on sunday, where several workers associated with Mehbooba Mufti-led Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party reportedly joined the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference during a gathering held at Hayan Palpora.
According to local sources, the joining programme witnessed participation of party workers and local political activists from the area. The development is being viewed as a major setback for the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party in the Kangan belt.
The political shift comes amid increasing political activity across various parts of Kashmir ahead of upcoming grassroots-level political engagements and organisational strengthening exercises by different parties.
Local political observers described the development as a “big jolt” to the PDP in Kangan, indicating changing political equations in the constituency.
Meanwhile, leaders and workers of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference welcomed the new entrants and expressed confidence about strengthening the party base in the area.(PTK)
