Woman Allegedly Axed to Death by Self-Styled Godman in Kashmir

SRINAGAR :A ghastly incident shook the Chogal area of Handwara in North Kashmir on Friday afternoon, as an elderly woman, Atiqa Begum (60), fell victim to a horrific attack allegedly perpetrated by a self-styled godman, Ghulam Rasool, popularly known as ‘Las Babb’.

According to a police official, Atiqa Begum, the wife of Late Abdul Rehman Lone, had reportedly gone to visit the self-proclaimed spiritual leader when the unthinkable transpired. “Atiqa Begum was struck multiple times on the head by the accused,” the official disclosed. Initially rushed to GMC Handwara for immediate medical intervention, she was subsequently referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar. Tragically, despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.
