Weather Update: Rain and Snow Likely in Kashmir Valley’s Higher Reaches

Srinagar, Oct 28: The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain and snowfall over Kashmir’s higher reaches within the next 24 hours. According to officials, Monday is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rain and snow likely in parts of north Kashmir by evening.

The department indicates that on October 29, clouds will persist, with light rain and snow forecasted in the northern and central higher reaches. Independent weather observer Faizan Arif predicts snowfall over Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Zojila Pass, as well as other elevated areas.

Snowfall may continue into early October 30, after which a dry spell is expected until November 8. No snow is anticipated in the plains of Kashmir. However, mist and shallow fog could affect the region’s lowlands starting November 1.

With the minimum temperature recorded at 5.8°C, slightly above the season’s average, residents and tourists in Srinagar have bundled up to counter the cool breeze sweeping through the valley. Farmers have been advised to complete harvests and securely store crops amid the changing weather.
