Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall and Possible Flash Floods Predicted in Kashmir

Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather advisory forecasting heavy rainfall in remote areas of Kashmir between September 2 and 3, 2024. In addition to this, moderate rainfall is expected in several other regions of the valley.

 

The advisory warns of potential flash floods, landslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas due to the heavy rain. The Meteorological Department has also highlighted the possibility of snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir during this period. Trekkers and tourists planning to visit these areas have been advised to take necessary precautions.

 

Following this period of adverse weather, the forecast indicates that the weather will stabilize, with generally calm conditions expected from September 4 to September 12. However, brief spells of light rain are anticipated on September 6 and 7.

 

Residents and visitors in the region are urged to stay updated with the latest weather information and to avoid traveling to susceptible areas during the predicted heavy rainfall to ensure their safety.
