SIKS GHSS Boys celebrates National Sports Day   

   PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR UDHAMPUR, AUGUST-29:- National sports Day was celebrated with great pomp and show in Shaheed Inspector Kamal Singh  Government Model Higher Secondary School (SIKS) Boys Udhampur.

  A grand function was organized in the school premises wherein Deputy Inspector General (Police)  Mohammad Suleman Choudhary was the Chief Guest, while Dr. Jogeshwar Gupta President, Municipal council Udhampur and Dr. Vinod Kumar SSP Udhampur were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.

    ASP, Anwar -Ul-Haq, CEO, Arvin Koul, DYSSO, S.Swarn Singh, besides  PRI members including S. Surinder Singh Khalsa Vice President MC, Anil Arora Councilor,  Mannat Choudhary international player, Kuldeep Magotra CEO VAJK, R.C Sharma International coach, Dr. Brij Baloria International coach were also present on the  occasion.

     On his arrival, the Chief Guest was presented the guard of honour by the NCC Cadets of the host school. He unfurled the National Tricolour.

  Sports competitions in Tug of war, Kabbadi etc were organized which were highly praised by the spectators. The players took part in the competitions with great  spirit of sportsmanship  and won or lost the matches by a narrow margin of points.

        The Chief Guest appreciated the teachers and the students for celebrating the National sports Day in a befitting manner. He exhorted the students to play one or the other game to keep them physically and mentally fit. He said that drug menace was a big challenge to be dealt with, and interest in games and sports is the best way to check this menace.

        On this occasion, the winners were awarded by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

 Mementos were also presented to the guests. Mannat Choudhary, the international player of Volleyball from Jammu, was given a momento, tracksuit and a cash amount of Rs.5100/-.

Pawan Kumar acting Principal of the school presented vote of thanks, while Amit Sharma PET conducted the proceedings of the progamme.

All the teachers  and the students of the school remained present.
