Senior Photojournalist Nisar Ahmad’s Demise Leaves Journalist Fraternity in Grief
Srinagar, 19 June: The journalist community is mourning the loss of senior photojournalist Nisar Ahmad, who passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged battle with a life-threatening illness. Ahmad, who was working with “The Hindu” newspaper, breathed his last at SMHS Hospital at around 11:00 am.
Ahmad had been unwell for some time and had undergone a major operation two years ago to manage cancer. Despite his health challenges, he continued to work diligently until his condition deteriorated recently. He was admitted to SMHS Hospital on Tuesday morning.
Before joining “The Hindu,” Ahmad dedicated much of his career to working for Kashmir’s local media, making significant contributions to the field of photojournalism.
The congregational funeral for Ahmad will be held at 3:00 PM at his residence in Natipora, Srinagar.
The Kashmir Press Photographers Association (KPPA) has expressed profound grief over Ahmad’s death. In a statement, the KPPA noted that his passing has left a significant void in the photojournalistic circles of Kashmir. They extended their sympathy to his family and prayed for Ahmad to be granted the highest place in heaven, as well as for strength and patience for his bereaved family during this difficult time.
Editor-in-Chief of Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK), Sajjad Bazaz, along with his team, also condoled the demise of Ahmad. Bazaz offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and courage for the family to bear this irreparable loss.
The entire journalist fraternity has expressed shock and grief over Ahmad’s passing, remembering him as a dedicated and noble professional whose tireless work greatly enriched the field of journalism in Kashmir. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.
