Two Militants Killed, Cop Injured in Sopore Gunfight

Srinagar: Two unidentified militants were killed in an ongoing encounter in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Wednesday. The gunfight began in the Hadipora Rafiabad area of Sopore.

An official confirmed that the identities of the slain militants are still being ascertained. During the operation, a policeman was injured by gunfire and was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Earlier, officials stated that a joint team of the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Lyser Hadipora village of Rafiabad, Sopore, following credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the security forces approached the suspected location, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering the encounter.

The operation is still ongoing, and security forces have sealed all roads leading to the encounter site.
