Pakistan carried out precision military strikes in Iran’s Siestan-Balochistan province, resulting in the reported death of 7 individuals. The operation, codenamed “Marg Bar Sarmachar,” targeted what Pakistan deemed as terrorist hideouts. The strikes followed Iran’s missile and drone attacks in Balochistan, prompting Islamabad to recall its ambassador from Tehran and suspend planned bilateral visits.

Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency reported casualties, including women and children, in a missile attack on a border village. The incident has heightened regional tensions, already strained by conflicts such as Israel’s actions in Gaza and the targeting of merchant ships by Yemen’s Houthis.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office justified the military action, citing concerns about safe havens for Pakistani-origin terrorists within Iran. The statement highlighted previous efforts to address these concerns and emphasized the need for decisive action due to credible intelligence on impending large-scale terrorist activities.

The successful execution of the operation was hailed as a manifestation of Pakistan’s commitment to national security. The strikes were pre-authorized by the government and conducted using precision airstrikes within Pakistani airspace.

Sources revealed that high-value terrorist targets were identified through aerial reconnaissance, leading to the engagement of seven targets inside Iran. The focus was on the Balochistan Liberation Force (BLF), a Balochistan-centric terrorist organization.

Pakistan asserts that it had informed Iran about these terrorist activities, urging joint investigation and action. The preemptive strike against the BLF was framed as a response to Iran’s lack of cooperation.

In response to Iran’s unprecedented attack on bases of the Sunni Baloch militant group ‘Jaish al-Adl’ in Balochistan, Pakistan recalled its ambassador, suspended bilateral visits, and reserved the right to retaliate.

The escalating situation has strained the traditionally warm ties between Pakistan and Iran, with the latter’s actions labeled as a serious breach of sovereignty and a violation of international law. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister emphasized the common threat of terrorism to the region but warned against unilateral actions that could undermine peace and stability.
