J&K Sports Council begins Junior Boys Football trials for National Championship
SRINAGAR, JULY 31 (PTK): The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council on Friday commenced open selection trials for the Junior Boys Football Team for the 2026-27 Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy National Football Championship, organised under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), with 375 players from across the Union Territory registering for the selection process.
Simultaneous divisional trials began in Srinagar and Jammu, with shortlisted players advancing to the Union Territory-level selection camp scheduled to be held in Srinagar next week.
According to the Sports Council, 248 players from the Kashmir Division and 127 from the Jammu Division have registered for the trials.
The first phase of divisional trials was conducted at the Synthetic Turf Football Stadium, TRC, Srinagar, for players from the Kashmir Division and at the Mini Stadium Synthetic Turf, Parade Ground, Jammu, for participants from the Jammu Division.
The divisional selection trials will continue on August 1, 2026, at the same venues.
Players selected during the divisional stage will participate in the UT-level selection trials at the Synthetic Turf Football Stadium, TRC, Srinagar, on August 3 and 4, 2026.
The trials are open to boys born between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2012, who are residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Participants reported in full playing kit and produced original birth certificates issued by the Municipal Corporation or other competent authority, Aadhaar cards updated with recent photographs and passport-size photographs for the verification process.
The players selected at the Union Territory level will undergo a coaching camp in Srinagar before the announcement of the final squad for the national championship.
In accordance with AIFF guidelines, the selected players may also be required to undergo Bone Age Verification Tests before the team’s screening and departure.(PTK)
