Police apprehends drug peddler in Anantnag

Brown sugar recovered during naka checking in Bijbehara; investigation underway

ANANTNAG, JULY 31 (PTK): Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag on Friday apprehended an alleged drug peddler during naka checking at Pazalpora in Bijbehara and recovered suspected contraband from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Irfan Khan, son of Mohammad Jahangir Khan, a resident of Bawana, New Delhi, presently residing at Awantipora.

During the checking, police recovered approximately 5.20 grams of brown sugar from his possession.

A case under FIR No. 231/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and investigation has been initiated to ascertain further links and connections in the case.

Police said it remains committed to curbing drug trafficking and protecting the youth from the menace of narcotics.(PTK)
