Pak Foreign Minister urges intl community to play its role to mitigate sufferings of people of Kashmir
SRINAGAR, NOV 26 (PTK): Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged international community to play its role to mitigate the sufferings of oppressed people of Kashmir.
He was talking to the former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik who called on him in Islamabad on Monday.
The foreign minister stressed for peaceful, political and diplomatic solution of Kashmir dispute as per the UNSC resolutions.
He said India should abolish all black laws in the held territory and respect the birth right of Kashmiri people for their right to self determination. He said the Indian side should shun the course of military force and make a progress towards peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute.
Voicing concerns over deteriorating situation in Kashmir, the foreign minister said it is the legal and moral responsibility of the UNSC to take necessary steps towards conducting plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with its resolutions.
The Norwegian former prime minister in his remarks said peace talks are the only way forward to resolve Kashmir dispute. He said the international community should give priority to Kashmir dispute.
Magne Bondevik also briefed the foreign minister about his meetings with the leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference. (PTK)
