No need to welcome amended domicile recruitment rules: Er Nazir Yatoo

Reiterates  demand for  constitutional rights
Srinagar, April 05(PTK): Peoples’  Democratic Party (PDP) senior  leader and Ex VC JK Cements, Er Nazir Amad Yatoo on Sunday rejected  centres move of ping-pong interventions and urged the Centre to fulfil the  demand of the local residents for restoration of constitutional rights.
In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader, Er Nazir Yatoo said,  “Decision after decision, the government is taking away what they think is special for Jammu and Kashmir, what bound it together. First, they divided the state into two UTs, kept Kashmiris locked down for months in fear of retaliation. The only compensation was the promise to safeguard some of our rights, which was made by the government with people but unfortunately, that too fall flat ground.”
Hitting out on Various political heads for welcoming centres yesterday move, Yatoo said, these players in Kashmir are making this an issue of jobs. And this is sinister. It is not about jobs. It is about defining the domicile. And the text of the gazette notification seems to retrospective.  What can be more demeaning than the fact that domicile would be given to people registered as a migrant here in Jammu and Kashmirir,  adding, “Many North eastern states enjoy special privileges on account of their geographical situation and otherwise. J&K deserves the same constitutional rights, if not more,” Yatoo said.
Yatoo said that, no changes were made to the new definition of a resident introduced last week. Under the new definition of domicile for Jammu and Kashmir, a person residing here for at least 15 years will now be eligible to be a permanent resident of J&K, the order should be immediately revoked, Yatoo demanded.
Er Nazir Yatoo said,   businesses in the valley have suffered losses worth  crores since August 5, thousands of working class peopke were pushed to stay at home.  Sectors like tourism, horticulture and agriculture have been the worst hit. “First the  internet shutdown and now the domicile law like issues are aimed  to suppress the netizens of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The central government is no more  sincere with the people as well as politicians of Jammu and Kashmir, adding, “What adds salt to the wound is the timing. Instead of providing facilities to the people to face the challenge, New Delhi gave priority to its nefarious plans in Kashmir, knowing the world’s attention is on the pandemic,” he said.
As Madam Mehbooba ji and other political leaders continue to be under arrest,  these  interventions raise question marks on GoI’s seriousness regarding early restoration of democracy in J&K, Yatoo said.
The racist and unjust laws central government has been enacting lately are similar to the racist laws.
“Centres  is behaving like a Mafia cartel in Jammu and  Kashmir. They can’t decide the fate of eight million people with a stroke of a pen. This is nothing but a broad daylight robbery,” Yatoo said.
“When the entire world is passing through a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the central government is busy  in issuing notifications to hurt the sentiments of people of J&K, which is totally unacceptable, Yatoo said.
Meanwhile, Yatoo reiterated the demand that the rights to land under some constitutional guarantees should be fully protected.(PTK)
