Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Issues Advisory on Social Media Endorsements of Offshore Betting and Gambling Platforms

 

In a bid to curb the promotion and advertising of offshore online betting and gambling platforms on social media, India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a stern advisory directed at all endorsers and influencers. The advisory, which comes as a response to growing concerns surrounding the proliferation of such activities, serves as a cautionary measure to safeguard consumers and uphold regulatory standards in the digital space.

 

Under the provisions outlined in the advisory, endorsers and influencers are urged to refrain from promoting or advertising offshore online betting and gambling platforms, including any form of surrogate advertisements.
