Massive Anti-Drug Awareness Campaigns Continue Across Shopian Under NMJKA

Shopian, May 15 (PTK): The District Administration Shopian on Thursday continued its extensive awareness and outreach activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to educate people, particularly youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

As part of the sustained anti-drug campaign, a series of awareness programmes, sports activities, seminars, yoga sessions, cultural events and interactive meetings were organised across schools, colleges, villages and public places in the district.

Officials said the programmes witnessed active participation from students, youth clubs, teachers, civil society members and local volunteers, who were sensitised about the growing menace of substance abuse and encouraged to contribute towards building a drug-free society.

During the events, speakers stressed the importance of community participation, parental guidance and coordinated efforts to protect the younger generation from falling prey to drugs.

Special emphasis was laid on engaging youth in constructive activities such as sports, skill development and awareness drives to channel their energy into productive pursuits. Various government departments are jointly conducting these initiatives to strengthen the anti-drug movement at the grassroots level.

Citizens were also urged to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities to the concerned authorities for timely intervention and legal action.

Officials said the daily awareness initiatives are receiving encouraging public response and are significantly contributing towards building a healthier, safer and drug-free society in Shopian district.(PTK)
