LG Manoj Sinha Joins Nasha-Mukt J&K Campaign in Ganderbal, Says Historic Movement Against Narco-Terror Has Emerged

Ganderbal, June 5 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday joined the ongoing Nasha-Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Campaign in Ganderbal, participating in a massive padyatra and addressing a large gathering while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and narco-terrorism from the Union Territory.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said that after visiting every district in the Kashmir Valley and participating in anti-drug marches, he could confidently state that a historic people’s movement against narco-terrorism has emerged across Jammu and Kashmir.

Highlighting the achievements of the campaign, Sinha said that during the last 55 days, 1,036 FIRs have been registered, 1,128 drug smugglers arrested, more than 100 properties linked to drug traffickers attached, nearly 700 driving licences cancelled and recommendations submitted for cancellation of 130 passports of drug smugglers.

“Fifty-five days ago, from the soil of Jammu, I declared that enough is enough. What began as a war against drugs and narco-terrorism has now transformed into a true people’s movement driven by the collective will and determination of ordinary citizens,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor assured comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals struggling with drug addiction and said the administration is committed to helping them return to mainstream society with dignity.

“Through treatment, counselling and employment opportunities, we are opening new doors for those affected by addiction. This is not merely a government programme; it is a social revolution,” he said.

Sinha stated that drug trafficking is not only a criminal activity but also a serious national security challenge, alleging that proceeds from narcotics smuggling are used to fund terrorism and destabilise society.

“The narco-terrorists operating within and outside Jammu and Kashmir are enemies of our youth, our families and our future. They seek to destroy the dreams and dignity of our young generation. Such elements will have to pay a heavy price,” he asserted.

The Lieutenant Governor said the administration is determined to dismantle every drug network operating in the region and ensure strict action against those involved in drug smuggling and narco-terror activities.

He called upon mothers, sisters and daughters to act as guardians of their communities and urged the youth to protect their schools, colleges and neighbourhoods from the menace of drugs.

“I promise the people that narco-terrorists will no longer find refuge in Jammu and Kashmir. Their networks will be dismantled one by one. Their days are numbered, and every narco-terrorist will answer for their crimes,” he said.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also launched ‘Sindh Samvad’, a podcast series aimed at community engagement and awareness, and felicitated winners of various competitions organised under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The event witnessed participation from people belonging to different walks of life, reflecting growing public support for the anti-drug campaign being carried out across the Union Territory.(PTK)
