LeT District Commander Killed in Shopian Gunfight, was involved in killing of Non-local Carpenter in Pulwama: IGP Kashmir

 

 

Srinagar, 20 Oct (PTK): The District comander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (Let) outfit and another militant was killed in an encounter between government forces and militants in dragad village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday. Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that LeT district comander Shopian killed in the gunfight was involved in killing of non-local carpenter at litter pulwama.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said that one among the slain militant killed in Shopian encounter was identified as Adil wani, the District Commander Shopian of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit.

Slain Militant adil was active since July 2020 and was involved in killing of non-local carpenter Sageer Ahmad ansar S/o Bindo Hussain Ansari of Uttar Pradesh at litter Pulwama .

Earlier, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s SOG , Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in dragad Village of Shopian following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

In the encounter two militants were killed, one among them was identified as Adil ah wani, district comander of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit.

Meanwhile kashmir zone police tweeted that ShopianEncounterUpdate: One of the killed militant has been identified as Adil Ah Wani, active since 7/2020. He was involved in killing of one poor labourer at Litter Pulwama. So far, 15 militants have been neutralised in 2 weeks: IGP Kashmir”.(PTK).
