LG Manoj Sinha Pays Obeisance at Ancient Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir in Kishtwar
Kishtwar, June 6 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday paid obeisance at the historic Shri Gauri Shankar Mandir located at Sarkoot in Kishtwar district and prayed for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
During his visit to the revered temple, the Lieutenant Governor offered prayers and sought blessings for continued peace, harmony and development across the Union Territory.
The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with public representatives and local residents who projected several demands related to the development and upkeep of the shrine and its surrounding infrastructure.
Taking cognizance of the concerns raised by the local population, Manoj Sinha directed the district administration to initiate appropriate measures for the rejuvenation and restoration of the pond adjoining the temple, recognizing its religious, cultural and environmental significance.
Officials said the proposed rejuvenation efforts will focus on improving the condition of the water body and preserving the heritage character of the temple surroundings for the benefit of devotees and visitors.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment towards the preservation and development of religious and heritage sites across Jammu and Kashmir while ensuring better facilities for pilgrims and local residents.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma; MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar; Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma; and other senior officials.
The visit formed part of the Lieutenant Governor’s tour of Kishtwar district, where he also participated in activities related to the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign.(PTK)
