Lack of public transport on vital Soura-Sumbal route takes toll on passengers

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR Srinagar JULY 23:- Unavailability of public transport on vital Soura-Sumbal route especially in evenings is causing immense problems to passengers.

Daily passengers said that there is very little flow of public transport on this vital route and whenever any mini bus is plying on it, it remains packed with heavy over load.

They said that a mini bus is plying on this vital route only after two hours due to which passengers are suffering.

Aggrieved passengers said that they are left stranded in the Soura area in the evening due to unavailability o transport in the evenings on this vital route.

The passengers said that in the evenings there are no cabs or buses available for passengers and every evening dozens of girls remain stranded there at Soura as they get no space in the mini bus due to heavy rush of people returning home through this route.

“This issue has been taking a toll on office goers, students, and especially on women and elderly passengers, they said.

We have taken up the issue with the operators several times, but to no avail, said a passenger

There is a schedule followed by public transport operators. On a daily basis, school children, the elderly, and women keep waiting for hours together but there is no intervention from authorities, he said

Everyone does not own vehicles and are dependent on public transport but the administration is least bothered about this issue, passengers said.

They requested government to make arrangements so that more buses can ply on this route and no one may face problems in reaching to their respective places or return home.

They also requested authorities to check over load as well as women folk are facing lot of problems in over load.
