JKPCC strongly condemns detention of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra
Srinagar, October 7(PTK): A meeting of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) was held here on Wednesday (October 6) under the leadership of former minister and ex-JKPCC president Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed in which detention of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was strongly condemned.
The meeting was attended by JKPCC Vice Presidents, G N Monga and Mohammad Anwar Bhat, ex MLA Mohammad Amin Bhat and other senior leaders of the party. Representatives from all the 10 districts of Kashmir valley participated in the meeting.
While strongly condemning the detention of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for 28 hours by UP police she was on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri, where eight persons, including four farmers, were left dead in an incident on Sunday, the leaders questioned that why culprits of the gruesome incident were roaming free?
The BJP government is behaving in an autocratic manner which is unfortunate in a democratic setup, they said. If the law is equal for everyone in the country, why was Priyanka Gandhi Vadra detained and the culprit son of the minister who killed four farmers is roaming free?
“Lakhimpur Kheri like incidents reminds us about the Jalianwala Bhag massacre. This government has turned totally insensitive. Congress as a responsible opposition can’t remain silent and will stand by the people of the country in their fight for their rights,” the leaders vowed.
The JKPCC leaders also discussed organizational matters during the meeting and asserted that they will make every effort and step to make the party a strong force. “We will meet the high command in coming days in Delhi and discuss the future strategy and making the Congress a vibrant force in Jammu and Kashmir,” they added.(PTK).
