JKAACL Organises Punjabi Kavi Darbar at Attina Beerwah to Promote Literary Heritage

Budgam, June 5 (PTK): The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Thursday organised a Punjabi Kavi Darbar at Attina in Beerwah area of Budgam district, bringing together poets, literary figures and Punjabi language enthusiasts to celebrate and promote Punjabi literature and culture.

The literary event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, literary lovers and members of the younger generation, reflecting growing interest in preserving and promoting Punjabi linguistic and cultural heritage in the region.

Among those present on the occasion were Popinder Singh Paras, Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, S. Prehlad Singh, Master T.P. Singh, and several other distinguished guests. A large number of Punjabi-speaking residents from Attina and adjoining areas also attended the programme.

Welcoming the participants, noted social and literary figure S. Prehlad Singh appreciated the Academy for organizing a literary event in the rural area of Attina. He emphasized that such programmes play a vital role in preserving Punjabi language, literature and cultural traditions while encouraging younger generations to connect with their heritage.

Addressing the gathering, Popinder Singh Paras highlighted the Academy’s continuous efforts to promote Punjabi literature and culture across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in remote areas of the Kashmir Valley.

He stated that JKAACL remains committed to organizing literary and cultural activities in regions with significant Punjabi-speaking populations to encourage literary creativity, cultural interaction and language preservation.

The Kavi Darbar featured poetry recitations by several noted poets and literary personalities, including Popinder Singh Vaid, Nanak Singh, Manjit Singh Raina, Kulwant Singh Vicky, Harpreet Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Kripal Singh and Suraj Singh, among others.

The poets presented a variety of compositions reflecting social themes, cultural values, human emotions and contemporary issues, drawing appreciation from the audience.

The event concluded on a positive note with participants expressing gratitude to JKAACL for providing a platform to local poets and writers and for its continued efforts to strengthen Punjabi literary activities in the region.

The programme also underscored the importance of promoting regional languages and literature as an integral part of Jammu and Kashmir’s diverse cultural landscape.(PTK)
