J&K Police Crack Down on Timber Smuggling in Kangan, Driver Apprehended

The Jammu and Kashmir Police, under the leadership of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS, seized a significant cache of illicit timber in Kangan. Acting on specific intelligence, officers intercepted a vehicle loaded with the contraband at Prang Kangan. The driver, identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat, was promptly arrested, and the vehicle, along with the illegal timber, was confiscated on the spot.

 

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the timber was unlawfully sourced from nearby forests, underscoring the gravity of environmental exploitation. A case has been registered at PS Kangan, FIR No. 38/2024, under relevant sections of the law, as investigations delve deeper into the network behind this illicit trade.

 

The relentless pursuit of timber smugglers reflects the unwavering commitment of Ganderbal Police to safeguard the region’s precious green resources.
