Jaundice Outbreak in Padgampora Awantipora, four children test positive

PULWAMA: In a sudden outbreak of jaundice in Dangarpora area of Padgampora village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, four children have tested positive in the last few days.

 

Talking to the Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK), health official, Dr Paramjeet Singh informed that on the directions of concerned BMO, the screening process is underway for two days, as four cases have been confirmed positive for jaundice, who are being treated, and are recovering.

 

He said that his team is trying their best to create awareness among the people, about how to put complete control on further spread of jaundice by following the envisaged guidelines.

 

Singh said that Jal Shakti team also accompanied the health team, and have taken water samples from a nearby tank to check the quality of water, as there are apprehensions that contaminated water might be the cause of jaundice outbreak in the said area.

 

“I request people to ensure handwash before eating anything, while they should drink boiled water. If they are facing any concern, they should immediately visit the nearby health centres,” said Dr Paramjeet Singh, adding that a team from CMO office Pulwama also visited the area to review the overall situation.
