India distances from LAC disengagement claims by China
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR, JULY 29 (PTK): India on Thursday distanced itself from Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong’s claims yesterday that Indian and People’s Liberation Army troops have “disengaged” in the Galwan Valley and Pangong Lake areas.

“We are reiterating our position regarding de-escalation and de-escalation. I don’t have a specific update yet. The two leaders, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, shared with you information about the next round of commander-level talks, which were agreed to be held at the earliest,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

Weidong on Wednesday claimed that the two countries have withdrawn troops from friction points on the Line of Actual Control near Ladakh after a standoff that lasted more than a year.(PTK)
