Impostor Posing as Raj Bhavan Official from Ganderbal Arrested in Jammu
The crime branch announced the arrest of an individual for falsely portraying himself as a government official stationed at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu.
According to official sources told Press Trust of Kashmir, the impersonator, identified as Firdous Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Waskora village in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal, was apprehended by a team from the Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), as revealed in a statement issued here.
The arrest transpired subsequent to the filing of a case under pertinent sections of the law at the Police Station CICE.
The agency disclosed that during the arrest, various incriminating materials, including counterfeit identity cards, seals, and other fraudulent documents purportedly used in the commission of the crime, were confiscated from the individual’s possession. The statement further noted that an ongoing investigation is underway to delve deeper into the matter.
Wagay allegedly assumed the guise of an undersecretary posted at the Raj Bhavan, exploiting this false identity to deceive unsuspecting victims, as confirmed by an official.
This incident underscores the necessity of robust measures to combat fraudulent activities and maintain the sanctity of government institutions.
