Heavy Forest Fire Engulfs Wangath, Ganderbal District

PTK NEWS DESK

A massive forest fire has broken out in the Machkine Wangath area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, continuing to spread for several days. Local sources confirm that the fire, which started some time ago, remains uncontrolled, destroying vast stretches of forested land.

According to the Press Trust of Kashmir, hundreds of trees—referred to as “green gold”—have been lost in the blaze. The towering flames continue to pose a severe threat to the region’s rich biodiversity.

Despite efforts by forest officials to contain the fire, the situation remains critical. Authorities are on-site, working tirelessly to manage the crisis, but the fire persists, ravaging the area.
