The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made significant strides in uncovering alleged violations of the foreign exchange law. During extensive searches conducted across multiple cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Kurukshetra in Haryana, the ED seized a staggering amount of unexplained cash totaling Rs 2.54 crore.

Among the entities under scrutiny are Capricornian Shipping and Logistics Pvt Ltd and associated companies, along with their directors and partners. The investigation revealed suspicious outward remittances amounting to a whopping Rs 1,800 crore to overseas entities managed by Anthony De Silva in Singapore.

The modus operandi involved disguising these transactions as payments for bogus freight services and imports, further complicating the money trail through a network of shell entities. Entities like Laxmiton Maritime and their associates were implicated in orchestrating these deceptive financial maneuvers, allegedly layering transactions through entities such as Neha Metals, Amit Steel Traders, Triple M Metal and Alloys, and HMS Metals.

During the course of the search operations, the ED made a startling discovery: a portion of the seized cash was clandestinely stashed inside a washing machine. This revelation underscores the lengths to which individuals may go to conceal illicit funds. Alongside the cash haul, authorities confiscated various incriminating documents and digital devices, shedding further light on the intricate web of financial irregularities.

To stem the flow of illicit funds, the ED has frozen a total of 47 bank accounts implicated in the case. This proactive measure aims to prevent further financial malfeasance and ensure accountability for those involved in alleged violations of the foreign exchange law.

The seizure of such a substantial amount of unexplained cash, coupled with the intricate nature of the financial transactions, underscores the importance of vigilant oversight and enforcement mechanisms in combating financial crimes. As investigations continue, the ED remains committed to unraveling complex money trails and holding accountable those who seek to circumvent regulatory frameworks for personal gain.
