DU Chief G. M. Shaheen Criticizes Omar Abdullah Government for Failing to Deliver on Key Promises

Srinagar, 26 June(PTK): Jammu and Kashmir Janta Dal United (JDU) President G. M. Shaheen today delivered a scathing assessment of the Omar Abdullah-led administration’s performance during a workers’ convention held at the party office in Srinagar.

Highlighting the Government’s unfulfilled commitments, Shaheen pointed to two flagship promises—provision of free electricity and restoration of Statehood—that remain undelivered after eight months in office. “The Government has failed in all respects, leaving the people disillusioned and questioning its commitment to their welfare,” he stated.

Shaheen further observed that the administration has only inaugurated projects that were sanctioned during the Governor’s Rule period. “Just a few days ago, new highway projects were approved by the Central Government—projects that this administration could have advanced earlier if it had acted decisively,” he remarked, adding that the public’s frustration is mounting.

Reiterating JDU’s own commitment to governance, Shaheen affirmed, “Our party remains steadfast in its resolve to uplift every citizen of Jammu & Kashmir and to address their grievances effectively.” He announced that a party reshuffle will be undertaken in the coming days to strengthen JDU’s organizational outreach and better serve the people at the grassroots level.

Looking ahead to the Panchayat elections, Shaheen declared, “The JDU is fully prepared to contest vigorously and to earn the trust and support of the electorate. We call upon the people to hold the current government accountable and to stand with JDU’s vision for true progress and empowerment in our region.” (PTK)
