COVID-19: DIC Bandipora organizes awareness programme for Media persons

 

BANDIPORA, MARCH 17:(PTK) The District Information Centre Bandipora Tuesday organized a day long awareness programme for media persons of the district to make them aware about the issue of Corona virus.

The program was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza. District Information Officer Jahangeer Akhoon, Nodal Officer ISM , Dr Iftikar Gazi, District Nodal Officer for Coronaviorus Dr Nabeel Ishtiyaq and other senior officers of the district.

During the program experts apprised the journalists about Coronavirus disease and precautionary measures and steps to be taken in this regard.

 

They appealed journalists to adopt preventive measures to keep themselves and other safe from getting affected by the Coronavirus and urged them to help in creating awareness about the precautionary measures among the general public.

They also stressed upon the media persons to be informed about the preventive measures and play a proactive role in the campaign by educating people in their respective areas about the novel Corona virus.

A question/answer session was also organized at the end of the program wherein the participants posed several questions with regard to the disease.

Experts also urged upon the people to adopt all prescribed preventive measures and cooperate with the authorities so that any kind of eventuality is tackled smoothly.

Speaking on the occasion DC Bandipora lauded the contribution of journalists in disseminating information with regard to the awareness about Coronavirus. He said the journalists can play an active role in generating awareness about the disease.

Mirza appealed the people to voluntarily come forward and inform the health authorities if they have symptoms like fever , cough sneezing, shortness of breath or sore throat so that necessary precautions are taken accordingly to safeguard human life.

He said District Administration Bandipora is well prepared to deal with spread of Corona virus. In this regard he informed that 73 surveillance teams have been established besides five Rapid Response teams in the district. He said 54 beds have also been earmarked for quarantine purpose and 24X7 Control Room has also been established in the district with helpline numbers 9419010752, 01957225024, 7006346438 and 9906744259. Six block level control rooms have also been constituted at Hajin, Bandipora , Sumbal, Ajas, Ashtengo and Gurez under the supervision of concerned Tehsildars.
DDC appealed public not to panic and also warned rumor mongers that strict action will be taken against them.

He asked that if someone has travel history to foreign country especially affected country or have some symptoms they should come forward and get them medically examined. DDC asked the public to follow the advisories issued by government from time to time.(PTK)
