Commissioner Secretary Forest releases Annual Administrative Report and Digest of Forest Statistics

Srinagar July 10(PTK)Sarita Chauhan , Commissioner Secretary to Government, Department of Forests, Environment and Ecology, released the Annual Administrative Report (2018-19) and Digest of Forest Statistics （2017-19) respectively at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar in presence of Dr. Mohit Gera Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HOFF), Suresh Kumar Gupta, Chief Wild Life Warden, Vasu Yadav, Managing Director J&K Forest Development Corporation, Farooq Ahmad Geelani CCF Kashmir, Irfan Ali Shah CF Central/Working Plan Circle, Mohammad Yaseen DFO Statistics and Zahid Wani Information and publicity officer.
The Commissioner Secretary Forests in her brief address appreciated the efforts of the ongoing practice in Forest Department in compiling voluminous data and information at one place which is an important indicator to gauge the outcome of various initiatives/ progrmmes taken to improve the forests of J&K and to provide solutions to challenges faced by the department. She further added that availability of detailed and reliable information is a pre-requisite for policy making and to mitigate the challenges like climate change, human wild life conflict, livelihoods and meeting the bonafide demands of people. She concluded with the remarks that these publications of J&K Forest Department will go a long way in facilitating the department to serve the people in a better way
PCCF (HoFF) J&K Dr Mohit Gera while highlighting the significance of these publications said that the first requirement for developmental planning is the availability of practical and credible data. He further added that these publications can further be broaden to include the contribution of forests in meeting SDGs and Gross Domestic Product of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
