Cloudburst Triggers Flash Flood in Ramban; 2 Dead, 1 Missing, Over 90 Rescued
Ramban, Apr 20 (PTK): A devastating cloudburst struck near the Chenab Bridge in Dharamkund area of Ramban district on Sunday morning, resulting in two fatalities, one person missing, and the rescue of over 90 people after flash floods swept through the village.
According to officials, the sudden cloudburst caused a rapid surge in water levels of a nearby stream, which quickly turned into a flash flood, wreaking havoc in the residential area.
“Two lives have been lost, one individual is still unaccounted for, and around ten houses were completely washed away,” an official told Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK). Additionally, 25 to 30 houses have suffered partial damage due to the powerful flow of water.
As panic spread, Dharamkund police and local teams launched a swift rescue operation, successfully evacuating over 90 people trapped by the floodwaters.
