Casual labourers engaged with Tourism Dept protest for regularisation, pending salaries

Srinigar Oct 13 (PTK):Kashmir Tourism Department Casual Labours Union held a press conference in Srinagar on tuesday demanding the government release their wages pending from July 2014 and regularisation of their services in the department.

Leaders of casual Labours from the tourism department assembled in press club in favour of their genuine demands.

in a statement given to Press Trust of Kashmir, The leaders said that they are working in the tourism department as casual Labours but their wages have not been released yet by the department.

They said that we are facing a financial crisis on a daily basis as our wages are pending in the department for the last six years.

“We are demanding the department as well the government to release our wages as soon as possible without any delay,” they added

They further added that we are 342 casual labourers and our names uploaded by the department on the NIC website of the finance department. In which only 14 casual Labours are getting the wages.

As per order of the court, tourism department was asked not to engage anyone now in the department but release wages of the already existing casual labours, they said, adding that government even included some of the members of private nigeen club in it

The casual Labours said that the government should implement the Minimum Wages Act policy across Jammu and Kashmir and all the casual Labours will get benefit through this policy.

The casual labourers requested the LG of Jammu and Kashmir to look into the matter and release their pending wages on humanitarian basis.(PTK)
